Jersey’s Filip Nowacki won his second gold medal at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Romania, setting a championship record for the men’s 200m breaststroke.
The 17-year-old finished in two minutes 7.32 seconds, 0.24 seconds clear of Japan’s Shin Ohashi, whom he also beatin the 100m breaststroke on Wednesday.
His time shaved two seconds off the previous championship record of 2:09.40, set by Josh Matheny, of the United States, in 2019.
Nowacki will be chasing his third medal when he competes in the 50m breaststroke heats on Saturday, with the final taking place on Sunday.
