Leeds Rhinos Co-Captain Cameron Smith Out for Rest of Super League Season
Leeds Rhinos co-captain Cameron Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 Super League season, including the crucial play-offs, due to a persistent back injury. The 26-year-old forward has not played since Leeds’ victory over Salford Red Devils on 18 July.
Head coach Brad Arthur confirmed that Smith is dealing with a disc bulge, describing the issue as “pretty nasty.” Arthur added that the club will now focus on determining the long-term solution for the injury.
“I’m disappointed, but he wants to be able to play at full health,” Arthur said. “He’s probably had that back issue for a good period over his career.” Smith’s absence will be a significant blow for Leeds, who will need to adapt their squad for the final stages of the season without one of their key leaders on the field.
The Rhinos now face the challenge of adjusting their forward pack and leadership structure ahead of the play-offs, as the team aims to maintain momentum despite missing one of their star players.
