A lot of art has been displayed across the county this week, including a tree trunk that has been carved to depict a woodland scene.
Meanwhile, an exhibition of cow paintings can be seen at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and nature photos are displayed at Bridgwater Arts Centre.
That and more can be found in our weekly roundup of pictures across Somerset.
Exhibit: Jackie Spurrier is showcasing 14 cow paintings at an exhibition at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton until January 2026. Commission from any sales will go to the hospital charity “Art for Life”.
Transformation: A Norway maple tree in Victoria Park, Frome, has been turned into a hand-carved table and nature-themed bench, with intricate carving depicting badgers, bats, foxes and squirrels.
The tree, which was felled in May due to a fungal infection, will also be repurposed as timber for play equipment in the town’s green spaces, and the shavings will be used for mulching through the winter.
Setting sun: My Newspaper Weather Watcher ‘Gary the Monkey’ has captured the sunset over the sea in Weston-super-Mare.
Award: Heather Feltham, a paediatric clinical associate in psychology at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, has received an award from the University of Exeter.
The university’s Dean’s Commendations for Exceptional Performance are only ever given to the top 5% performing students at each level of study.
Ms Feltham, who has lived in Somerset for most of her life, has always been interested in a career in psychology.
Photos of photos: Bridgwater Arts Centre reopened its gallery on 13 September, marked by an exhibition from photographer Marko Dutka.
The exhibition forms part of Somerset Art Weeks Open Studios 2025, a county-wide celebration of creativity and artistic talent.
Mr Dutka’s exhibition can be seen until Saturday.
