An influential performance artist, musician and writer will open her latest exhibition in Hull next month.

Cosey Fanni Tutti is best known for her time in Throbbing Gristle, a band which formed in Hull in the 1970s and are regarded as the founders of the industrial music genre.

Incognito, an exhibition held at Humber Street Gallery, will bring together film, vinyl music, costumes and other rare materials from Tutti’s personal archive that have not been previously displayed, Hull City Council said.

The event at the gallery will run from 3 October until 25 January.

The exhibit is comprised of identities that were created by Tutti to function within the glamour industry between 1973 and 1981.

Throbbing Gristle were active between 1975 and 1981, and again between 2004 and 2010, and have influenced acts including Soft Cell, Nine Inch Nails and Ministry.

Tutti, 73, was born in Hull but now lives near King’s Lynn in Norfolk.
