Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz just keep on meeting in Grand Slams.

The duo have faced each other in two major finals. Alcaraz won the first meeting at the 2025 French Open, and Sinner the second at Wimbledon a month later.

The affectionately dubbed ‘Sincaraz’ rivalry has been played out 14 times in their professional careers, including five occassions in major tournaments.

The past seven Grand Slams have been won by either the Italian or the Spaniard, with Sinner taking home four titles since picking up his first in 2024.

Both are one major away from completing career Grand Slams – with the just the Australian Open missing from Alcaraz’s trophy cabinet, and the French Open for Sinner.

They most recently faced each other prior to the 2025 US Open at the Cincinnati Open when Sinner retired hurt at 5-0 in the first set.

They were also the first pair to contest the French Open and Wimbledon finals in the same year since Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in 2008.

Could the 2025 US Open final be next?

Despite their battles on court, the pair have maintained a good relationship – shown when Sinner praised his opponent after his 2025 Wimbledon victory,

“Carlos, thank you for the player you are,” the 24-year-old said.

“It is so difficult to play you but we have a great relationship off the court.

“Keep going, keep pushing, you are going to hold this trophy many times – you already have twice.”

Alcaraz has often spoken about how his rivalry with Sinner pushes him to be better.

Sinner was the first player to beat Alcaraz in a Grand Slam final. Alcaraz was the first to beat Sinner in the same setting.

“I think it’s great for us and for tennis. Every time we play against each other, I think our level is really high,” Alcaraz said.

“I don’t see any player playing against each other having the level that we are playing when we face each other.”

Alcaraz won a spell of five matches between Indian Wells in 2024 and the French Open in June 2025 – but momentum has shifted throughout their 14 contests.
